{"id":1678,"date":"2021-02-25T15:03:18","date_gmt":"2021-02-25T15:03:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cinfotech.co.uk\/?p=1678"},"modified":"2021-02-25T15:03:18","modified_gmt":"2021-02-25T15:03:18","slug":"fortel-nijjer-construction-labour-supplier-launches-top-5-by-2025-diversity-initiative","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cinfotech.co.uk\/?p=1678","title":{"rendered":"Fortel Nijjer : Construction Labour Supplier Launches \u2018Top 5 by 2025\u2019 Diversity Initiative"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A leading supplier of labour to the construction industry has made a five-step pledge towards boosting diversity in its ranks and creating opportunities for people in diverse groups in the sector by 2025.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/industrytoday.co.uk\/generic\/fortel-nijjer-s-achievements-are-his-pride--\">Fortel,<\/a> which supplies more than 2,000 staff to infrastructure projects with major contractors across the UK, has unveiled it\u2019s \u2018Top 5 By 2025\u2019 initiative, after updating its Social Value and Diversity and Inclusion strategies in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Targets set by the West Midlands based business include increasing workforce diversity by 25%, launching a Diversity and Inclusion steering group and providing work placements for people from underrepresented groups within the industry.<\/p>\n<p>Amar Sandhawalia, Fortel EDI Lead, said: \u201cWe have always put great emphasis on the importance of Diversity and Inclusion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRecently, we have launched our enhanced Diversity &amp; Inclusion strategy which will be supported by our Top 5 for 2025 initative.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c2020 was a year where calls were made far and wide for progress &#8211; from industry associations and business leaders to education bodies and eminent individuals &#8211; but we do believe that we are at the start of a change in attitude and culture.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to lead from the front in this and play our part in creating a more diverse talent pool, the impacts of which will be transformative for the industry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The full \u2018Top 5 By 2025\u2019 initiative is as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Increase workforce diversity by 25% by 2025*<\/li>\n<li>Launch of a Diversity &amp; Inclusion training and assessment scheme<\/li>\n<li>Quarterly Diversity and Inclusion focused events arranged by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vikulgupta.com\/sat-nijjer-announced-as-the-chief-executive-at-fortel-in-2012\/\">Fortel<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Creation of a Diversity &amp; Inclusion Steering Group<\/li>\n<li>Work Placement initiative for people from underrepresented demographic groups<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>*At present, 60% of the Fortel workforce come from minority ethnic backgrounds, therefore the increase will focus on other demographic groups.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cinfotech.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Top-5-by-20-25-V3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1679 size-medium aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cinfotech.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Top-5-by-20-25-V3-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"fortel nijjer\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cinfotech.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Top-5-by-20-25-V3-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.cinfotech.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Top-5-by-20-25-V3-1024x1024.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.cinfotech.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Top-5-by-20-25-V3-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.cinfotech.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Top-5-by-20-25-V3-768x768.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.cinfotech.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Top-5-by-20-25-V3.jpg 1500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A leading supplier of labour to the construction industry has made a five-step pledge towards boosting diversity in its ranks and creating opportunities for people in diverse groups in the sector by 2025.
