Home Secretary and West Midlands Mayor visit the new development site owner Fortel at M6 junction 10.

Owner of FortelMr. Surinder Nijjer was alongside the Home Secretary and West Midlands Mayors visit to the development site which will host new state of the art offices and training academy.

Amidst the busiest political weeks, Fortel were delighted to host Home Secretary, Priti Patel, and Mayor of the West Midlands, Andy Street, at the Darlaston Enterprise Zone site to showcase the group’s new HQ and Training Academy under construction aiming to drive down local unemployment.

Along with other guests, business owner and dignitaries, the Home Secretary was accompanied around the site by Directors and delegates from the West Midlands Training Academy. Discussing local employment issues, the new Fortel facilities are a key enabler for our plans to provide inclusive opportunities for upskilling, training and placing people into work from the local community and beyond.

The new HQ will enable Fortel Group to expand its operations across hundreds of major infrastructure projects in the UK, but more critically doing so through addressing skills shortages and ensuring opportunities are socially all-encompassing.

Working in conjunction with The Skills Centre and West Midlands Combined Authority with the support of Walsall CouncilFortel has started to deliver training.  The academy vision is to reduce youth unemployment, upskilling candidates through the provision of classroom and on-site practical learning and ultimately placing them into employment in the construction and other aligned industrial sectors.
