Relocation of 156 positions over three phases on the 6th Floor, 4ML for an international law firm

Requirement
  • Client needed to increase the capacity of the 6th floor at their London office to accommodate a department moving from another floor.
  • Needed to utilise as much existing furniture as possible to keep costs down as well as being environmentally friendly
  • A significant reduction in amounts of filing was required
  • Disposal of excess items in an environmentally responsible way
  • Solution required to create space to facilitate relocation, as sufficient swing space to relocate the entire floor was not available
  • Supplier to work alongside fit-out contractor
Work Completed
Phase 1

 

  • Reconfiguration of half of the 6th floor to accommodate an additional 20 desks, including rebuilding furniture, decommissioning and recommissioning of the user’s IT
  • Solution provided to utilise four meeting rooms on 8th floor create an additional 24 spaces
  • Storage or disposal of excess items as required
  • Unpacking and repacking remaining bulk filing
  • Supply of temporary power and data for the additional 44 desks
Phase 2

 

  • Could only commence once fit-out company had completed their initial phase of works
  • Relocation of 44 desks from lower ground floor to the newly completed area of the 6th Floor
  • Relocation of 44 positions from the riverside to the newly completed area of the 6th Floor
  • Relocation of 16 desks to meeting rooms on 8th Floor
  • Relocations included rebuilding furniture, decommissioning and recommissioning of the user’s IT
  • Repurposed screens and partitions to a new layout saving the client the expense of purchasing new screens
  • Storage or disposal of excess items as required
  • Unpacking and repacking remaining bulk filing
  • Supply of temporary power and data for the additional 16 desks
Phase 3

 

  • Could only commence once fit-out company had completed the final fit-out of the 6th floor
  • Relocation of 40 positions from 8th floor to the 6th Floor
  • Reconfigure meeting rooms to their original state
  • Assembly of 30 desks from items in store as required
  • Repurposed screens and partitions to a new layout saving the client the expense of purchasing new screens
Results

 

  • Nexus’s planning and flexibility meant all timelines were met.
  • The client was able to make significant savings as most of the desks and cabinets were repurposed.
  • Our attention to detail and comprehensive testing meant that the client’s staff had no downtime resulting from the moves and and any minor issues were picked up by the Nexus floor walking team
  • Due to the low number of issues on floor walking days, the client was also able to utilise some of the Nexus engineers for unrelated works that reduced pressure on their in-house IT staff and further reduced overall costs.
